In the summer of 2023, I worked on a project in North Carolina with the University of Georgia as a bird bander and point counter. This meant that I helped to run sites where we captured and tagged birds with an aluminum "bracelet" around their legs. We took various measurements and released the birds back into their environment. For point counts, we hiked to specific locations in the forest to count birds in order to get a sense of what species were present in a given area.

Although field seasons of this nature are pretty demanding, I had a great time and enjoyed being back in the eastern forests with familiar birds.

This painting was actually created as a t-shirt design for our crew, but I really love it as a stand-alone work, as well.
