During the summer of 2021, I worked in the Monongahela National Forest of West Virginia conducting bird surveys. One of the most common birds we saw was the Chestnut-sided Warbler. Their cheerful, friendly songs (often described as "very very pleased to meet cha") serenaded us almost constantly in certain areas, and I quickly fell in love with these little birds. This drawing was one of only a few works I managed to complete during the field season, but I am extremely pleased with how it came out - bright and colorful like the forest that inspired it.
